Anaconda is a growth-oriented, gold mining, and exploration company with a producing project in Baie Verte, NL called Point Rousse and an exploration/development project called the Viking Project in Newfoundland. Anaconda Mining has established itself as a leader in human resource development.
Training Works has developed a capability modelling system for Anaconda that is aligned with the strategic vision of the company. This project has lead to the development of a fully integrated corporate learning system with a learning management system as a focal repository of the company’s learning objects. The original assessment identified the core competencies, and their corresponding behaviors required to facilitate employee success and operational excellence within Anaconda Mining. The identified competencies were structured into positional competency models that are housed in the Anaconda Leadership Model. These competency models were utilized to guide and tailor training for Anaconda Corporate University (ACU). This corporate university will serve as the backbone to Anaconda Mining’s learning culture and will be the key capability for fostering an adaptive, innovative, knowledge-based organization.
